Dirty Pop
This documentary, ‘Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam’, might be a bit controversial. I added it to my Watchlist as a former Backstreet Boys fan. I had no prior knowledge about one of the largest Ponzi schemes in history, led by Lou Pearlman, who created some of the biggest boy bands of the '90s, most notably the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, O-Town, and LFO.
What I found particularly appealing about this docuseries was the interview aesthetics. The set design and lighting are beautifully done. However, the use of AI in the series might be up for debate. To provide context to the storyline, the post-production team used real footage of Lou Pearlman but altered his lips to read dialogue from his book, “Bands, Brands, & Billions.” It's interesting to see how creatives use AI to weave together visual elements and enhance story flow.
I'm curious about others' thoughts.
